Tamarac Attends 2000 National Convention
Detachment Honored and Recognized
August 19, 2000 -- Tamarac Detachment's Veterans Service Officer Joe Mirsky and Historian Lucille Mirsky (SgtMarine@aol.com) attended the Marine Corps League's National Convention in New Orleans this past August (8/14 to 8/19) and report that Tamarac Detachment received the following awards at the Convention:
- Americanism Award - we received Honorable Mention in Category III for Detachments with over 100 members. The certificate reads "National Americanism - Honorable Mention - Category III - 2000"
- Certificate of Participation in the Year 2000 Newsletter Competition
- National Jr. Vice Commandant's Citation for 100% Membership
- National Jr. Vice Commandant's Citation for exceeding our previous year's Membership
- A streamer for our colors for 100% Membership.
